Browse/Search Data by Subject

Users have several options for identifying studies related to a particular topic. The ICPSR thematic categories divide our data holdings into seventeen broad subject areas. Selecting a particular thematic category enables users to retrieve a large theme-related subset of the entire archive, which they can then browse. The ICPSR thesaurus (consisting of subject terms, geographic names, and personal names) provides specific terms upon which it is possible to search, offering users the opportunity to narrow down their query and retrieve a smaller, more precise result set. Additionally, you may wish to take a look at our special topic archives which are Web sites devoted to discipline-related subject areas such as aging, criminal justice, education, health, and substance abuse.
