Brief Biography

William G. Jacoby is Professor in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University and Research Scientist at ICPSR, where he is Director of the Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research. Dr. Jacoby received his B.A. from the University of Delaware, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He recently served as Editor of the Journal of Politics (2001-2004). Dr. Jacoby's areas of specialization are mass political behavior and quantitative methodology. His substantive research focuses on ideology and personal value choices in public opinion and voting behavior. His methodological interests include measurement theory, scaling methods, and statistical graphics.
